Keeping fit at this age isn’t easy, now days you would be hard pressed to find a job that didn’t require long hours seated. So, we walk every chance we get.
This evening was special as we started our walk, my husband looked at me and stated ” Look at the sunset, it looks like sweet tarts”, it does I said back! But the longer I stared the more I thought, cotton candy!
We continued to walk together talking about our goals, things we hope to accomplish and things we already have.
As we rounded the corner with our home back in site, my husband pointed and said ” Look, do you see that? Lightning bugs!” Tears stared to fall, all I could get out at first as I froze is ” Oh my god, I haven’t seen those in years. Since I was a young child.
In my heart I couldn’t help think my dad might have sent them. He passed late October and we just spread some of his ashes. I recently wrote about the magic of the lightning bugs when we wrere young.
I couldn’t help but think my dad heard it. We have lived here 17 years I have never seen a lightning bug here, in fact, the last time I remember seeing them was when I was very young.
So why now, why tonight? Why in one spot only and with a magical cotton candy sky. I know there may be a million reasons that lined up perfectly but for me, it was my dad, giving us a little magic while we discussed all our dreams. I think he approved!
